Simple Home Office

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

I have a somewhat odd space in my house that I could not really figure out what to do with.  I have been wanting a home office and a nice little spot to blog!  So...this was a "dog living room"...Yes that's right, a living room just for my dogs.  It just did not look the way I had imagined AND the dogs always were in my living room with me; therefore it was kind of a wasted space.  Here are pictures of the before and after and just an idea if you are looking to make a simple home office!  Hope you enjoy!

The desks are from Big Lots www.biglots.com
The chairs are from Kirkland's www.kirklands.com
The owl lamps and lamp shades are from Wal-Mart www.walmart.com
The orange candle from Target www.target.com
And the octopus and mermaid are from Ross www.rossstores.com

A romantic getaway!

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

One of my very best friends hired me to decorate her room...It was already painted great colors! and had a purple accent wall! She wanted her room to be romantic. I re-decorated and re-arranged the entire room (it is a very large room) for $200! Here are the pics and some quick room makeover ideas! Thanks for reading! :-)

SHOE CLOSET!!!

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Very excited to write about this! This is such an easy, cute and fun project! A SHOE CLOSET!!! Luckily in my apartment I have a "study" and for me I don't really need a home office but I did need a closet for my shoes of course! SO...I think the study (shoe closet) is about 75 square feet...which is perfect!
1st-I painted the walls Pink...the name of the paint is Confetti by Benjamin Moore...which I got for a great price at my local True Value store!
Also, I had originally painted the walls a light blue and did not need any primer...the pink covered the blue just fine!
2nd-I found shelves and brackets at IKEA and estimated I could fit 3 pair of shoes on each shelf. Hanging shelves is very simple...just hold it up estimate where the bracket should go, use screw and drill to hold it in place then put the shelf on and use a level to figure out the right spot for the 2nd bracket! I didn't try to make these all in a row...some of the shelves are together some separate just randomly all over the walls. (Don't stress about perfection...it's boring anyways)
3rd-I found 2 chairs at Salvation Army that were black metal and I just recovered the seats in black and white hounds tooth fabric. (I promise I will post a video on how to recover seats, once I can upload my videos to here!)
4th-I found the table between the chairs at Ross...and the end table for the storage area at IKEA...all of the storage boxes are from Ross...
AND THAT IS ALL!
SHOE CLOSET:
Shelves $2.99/each
Brackets $.99/each
Chairs $5/each
Fabric $6.99/yard
Storage table $7.99
Storage Boxes about $25 total

Change the Look....quick!

Saturday, March 5, 2011

This is a cheap and easy way to change the look of something...I found a green plastic table by a dumpster (dumpster diver...yup!) I liked the pattern and the fact that it was plastic (easy for me to carry)
The table was hunter green...not feeling the color!
I have a wooden chair that I painted white for my apartment balcony, so I decided to spray paint the table white, for a cute sitting area on my balcony!
What you need:
~Plastic Primer
~Plastic Spray Paint (color of your choice)
That's all!
Wipe down the plastic piece, make sure everything is clean...then dry...
Spray with Primer
let dry...
Spray with Paint!
Quick...Easy and Cheap!

Shabby Chic Kitchen

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Hey Yall! Sorry for the delay...I have pics and videos of my kitchen...I have to resize the videos, so it might be a few days before I get those up!
Anyways to sum up the kitchen, it is white and Aujour Pear (same golden color I used in my living room)
I found antique plates (mainly floral) at thrift stores, yard sales and antique stores...the prices ranged from $1.99-$6...then bought plate hangers at the local craft store ($1.59 each) I just placed them randomly on the only wall I have for decorating in my kitchen; along with a white floral shelf I got at Ross for $9.99. I bought 3 random tea cups for the shelf and under that are my wine racks which were black and I spray painted them gold!
I accented everything with pink and white doilies that I found at antique stores!
For the place settings---I just have a bar/counter so I used charger platters from Ross that are Gold snakeskin texture ($2.99 each) and 2 antique bowls I got at a thrift store, in between them are pink and white doilies.
My "centerpiece" was actually a cheese tray and then the bottom is a candle holder---the cheese tray was brown wood (they normally come with the glass top)---the candle holder was black---my mom painted them pink and glued them together---now it's a mini cake dish or cupcake dish! Or you can just put your faux pearl necklaces in it for an extra shabby chic look!
Finally I have four bar stools I found at a dumpster...they were silver and had ugly fabric on the seats...I will post a video on how to recover the seats---All I did for the silver part of the bar stools was spray paint it gold!
When spray painting metal or tin...sand it first (just a little) then spray with primer, let dry, then spray paint and it will stay! :-)
